Montessori Interior Design
Guided by client preferences, we design beautiful, aesthetically driven Montessori spaces that integrate developmentally appropriate, evidence‑based best practices—including social‑emotional learning (SEL), culturally responsive and inclusive practices, and occupational therapy (OT) principles that strengthen fine‑ and gross‑motor skills.

Our Montessori interior design service transforms any space that children access into thoughtfully organized, nature‑infused settings that cultivate independence and responsibility. Grounded in Montessori principles, we optimize flow and function by integrating low shelves, developmentally-appropriate materials, natural materials, and living plants. We also offer implementation and ongoing support, along with Montessori-based coaching to encourage children to care for and respectfully engage with their redesigned space.
-
We’ll partner with you to curate a thoughtfully designed environment at any level of Montessori integration you choose, including:
Traditional classrooms that meet AMS or AMI standards
Montessori‑inspired classrooms and learning spaces
Montessori‑at‑home, including playrooms, bedrooms, and backyards
-
Using scaled drawings or 3‑D mock‑ups, we arrange shelves, floor rugs, furniture, curriculum areas, materials, and wall elements to optimize sightlines, traffic flow, acoustics, and age-appropriate accessibility.
-
For traditional Montessori classrooms, our design services include detailed mock-ups that map out each curriculum area and feature a labeled key identifying every shelf slot by its corresponding Montessori material. Materials are positioned at children’s eye level, grouped by level of difficulty, and sequenced left to right, top to bottom. We provide a comprehensive materials list with sourcing links to support seamless lesson rotations throughout the year. All designs align with AMS or AMI classroom standards.
-
For Montessori-inspired classrooms, we collaborate with you to determine the level of integration that fits your goals. We bring Montessori order and aesthetics into beautiful, functional spaces that enhance your existing program. Low shelves and developmentally appropriate materials are arranged at varied heights for multi-age access, while flexible storage supports seamless rotation of project-based or thematic units without disrupting classroom flow.
-
Montessori at Home adapts core Montessori design principles to everyday family life. Low shelves, themed baskets, and child-sized furniture keep toys and care items within reach, while distinct zones for sleep, creative play, quiet time, and independent routines support smooth transitions throughout the day. Seasonal rotation guides and sourcing lists help families refresh the space as children grow, preserving Montessori values of order, beauty, and independence.
-
We love weaving natural elements into every space we design. Through loose parts, living plants, natural textures, and nature-infused materials, children learn to experience nature as a daily collaborator — inviting environmental stewardship, sensorial exploration, and place-based learning.
-
Books, art, cultural heritage, and curriculum materials reflect the identities and lived experiences of the children in your space and community. Through an inclusivity audit, we help ensure children see themselves represented in their space, and have opportunities to learn about their own and others' cultures. Quiet corners and sensory integration are thoughtfully embedded into the design to support self-regulation and emotional well-being.
-
As an add-on service, our early childhood special education consultant can review your design through a multi-sensory lens — recommending adaptive strategies to support diverse learners. These inclusive practices help ensure children of all abilities can access their space independently.
-
As an add-on service, our pediatric occupational therapy consultant can review your design through a neurodevelopmental lens—offering strategies to support sensory regulation, fine motor development, and executive functioning. With targeted adjustments to layout, materials, and routines, this ensures every child can access their space with confidence and independence.
